Where does Postmark's free plan fall short?

Postmark sizes the free plan for testing

Postmark pitches the free plan for testing an integration, and 100 emails a month suits that. Once real users sign up, every welcome email and sign-in link comes out of the same 100.

Nothing between 100 and 10,000

Postmark's pricing page says it has no tier between the free plan and Basic, which costs $15 for 10,000 emails. Since Free allows no overages, an app that needs a few hundred emails a month ends up paying for 10,000. On Mailfully that app fits inside the free plan.

Test messages count

Each sandboxed test message counts as one email on Postmark, the same as a live one. On a plan of 100 a month, testing a new template a few times leaves less for your users.

Who is Postmark's free plan a good fit for?

Postmark's free plan wins on domains and message history. It allows up to 10 sending domains where ours allows 3, and it keeps 45 days of message history to our 30 days. It also sends broadcast mail from IP ranges kept apart from transactional mail. And if you need more than our free 5,000 but no more than 10,000 emails a month, Postmark's $15 Basic plan costs less than our $19 one.

Questions

Does Postmark have a free plan?
Yes, Postmark's free Developer plan includes 100 emails a month and doesn't expire. You don't need a credit card to start on it.
Can I pay for extra emails on Postmark's free plan?
No, Postmark allows no overages on the free plan. To send more than 100 a month you move to Basic, which starts at $15 a month for 10,000 emails.
Can Postmark's free plan receive email?
Yes, Postmark's free plan includes inbound email, with each processed inbound message counted toward the 100. Basic leaves inbound out, so moving from Free to Basic loses it; Pro and Platform include it. We include inbound on our free plan as well, counted against the allowance the same way.
