Email for AI agents

An agent calls the same API as any other app. You give it a key to send with and a hosted address for replies.

An address with no DNS

Turn on a hosted mailfully.app address in your dashboard settings and give it to your agent. An owner or admin does this once, and it is not available through the API.

Your own domain can also receive mail with one MX record.

Replies arrive by webhook

Your endpoint gets an email.received webhook with the message metadata. Webhooks are signed, so you can check that a request came from us. To read the body, make one API call with a key that has the read:inbound scope.

Give each agent its own key

  • A read-only key cannot send.
  • You can tie a key to one sending domain.
  • No key can create or revoke other keys.

An agent that sends and reads replies needs one key with two scopes: send and read:inbound. If an agent's key leaks, revoke it. A revoked key stops working on its next request.

Try it in test mode

A test key lets your agent send without mailing a real person, because test mode never delivers to a real inbox. Every email it sends, in test mode or live, has a log that shows what happened to it.

Docs for coding agents

Mailfully publishes an llms.txt, a plain-text index of the site and the docs for AI tools to read. The quickstart gets a first send working.

The command line

The mailfully npm package includes a CLI, so an agent with shell access can send mail from a terminal.

What it costs

The same as any other app. The Free plan covers 5,000 emails a month, sent and received together. Paid plans start at $19 a month.
