Email inboxes for AI agents

An agent inbox is an email address your AI agent owns. Mailfully will let you create one with a single API call. Mail that arrives reaches your agent by webhook, and the agent answers from the same address, in the same thread.

What your agent will be able to do

  • Create an inbox from code

One API call gives an agent its own address and display name. Make one per agent, per customer or per task.

  • Read mail as it arrives

Each new message triggers a signed webhook. The API returns the body, the attachments and the thread the message belongs to.

  • Reply in the same thread

Replies carry the headers mail apps use to group a conversation, so they show up under the original message in Gmail or Outlook.

  • Use your own domain

Put inboxes on a domain you have verified, or on a mailfully.app address that needs no DNS.

  • Review before it sends

An agent can save a reply as a draft, so a person on your team approves it first.

  • Connect your agent tools

An MCP server will let Claude Code, Cursor and other agent tools read and answer mail in an inbox.

We are building this with the teams in the beta, so the list may change before launch.

What teams use agent inboxes for

  • Support

The agent answers routine questions from customers and hands anything unusual to a person.

  • Assistants

It sorts incoming requests and drafts replies, including the back-and-forth of booking a meeting.

  • Invoices and receipts

Send them all to one address and let the agent file each one or forward it to finance.

  • Alerts

Point monitoring email at an inbox. The agent groups related alerts and decides who should see each one.

What it will cost

Mail an agent inbox sends or receives will count toward your plan's monthly emails, the way sent and received mail does today. The Free plan covers 3,000 emails a month, and paid plans start at $5 a month. We will publish inbox pricing before the beta ends.

What works today

Your agent can already send with its own API key and receive mail at a hosted mailfully.app address, which an owner or admin turns on in the dashboard. Each message reaches your server as an email.received webhook. Email for AI agents shows how to set it up, and inbound email covers receiving on your own domain.

Questions

What is an AI agent inbox?
An email address that belongs to an AI agent. With Mailfully, your code will create one through an API, the agent will get each new message by webhook, and its replies will go out from that same address in the same thread.
When will AI agent inboxes be available?
We are starting with a private beta for a small group of teams. Everyone on the beta list hears from us by email as we add people, and we will share a launch date once the beta has run for a while.
How is an agent inbox different from a Gmail account?
A Gmail account is built for a person who signs in through a browser. An agent inbox will be created and read through an API, so your code can make one for each agent and handle mail without a login screen.
Can an agent inbox use my own domain?
Yes, that is the plan. Inboxes will live on a domain you have verified with Mailfully, or on a mailfully.app address that needs no DNS changes.
Can my agent receive email with Mailfully today?
Yes. You can turn on a hosted mailfully.app address in the dashboard, or receive mail on your own domain with one MX record. Each message reaches your server as a signed webhook. Agent inboxes will add the API for creating addresses and replying in threads.
Does it cost anything to join the beta?
No. Joining the list is free, and it does not commit you to a plan.
